This a great time to visit the Lois Forrest Nature Center—not only to enjoy the Nature Center Library, but to also view the colorful Holly specimens by the entry way.
The yellow fruited American Holly, Ilex opaca ‘Xanthocarpa’ is found in the front of the building. As you drive or walk by you will note the abundance of bright yellow berries which will last through the late winter. Also, as you enter the Nature Center, you will enjoy the American Winterberry, Ilex verticillata with its colorful red berries. The birds will feast upon the berries once the weather becomes cooler, so as you visit the Nature Center, be sure to enjoy these colors.
