May 16, 2025 – Mountain Laurel
This spring has proven to be a banner season for buds and blooms! This week’s example is the Kalmia latifolia ‘Tiddlywinks’ aka, Mountain Laurel.

May 9, 2025 – Fringe Tree
The Chionanthus virginicus, or Fringe Tree, is a very unique specimen but with a very clever name. There are several of these fun trees on both campuses.

May 2, 2025 – Flowering Dogwood
A springtime staple, the flowering dogwood trees are exceptional this year.

April 25, 2025 – Kwanzan Cherry
Right now the Kwanzan cherry trees are bursting with delicate pink petals tightly-layered in fluffy clusters.

April 18, 2025 – Flowering Crabapples
At many locations around our campus you will find these trees loaded with delicate blooms in shades of white and pink. They belong to the genus Malus which also includes domesticated orchard apple varieties.

March 29, 2025 – European Hornbeam
The European Hornbeam has unique buds resembling mini pine cones, which will soon mature into clusters of darker green leaves.
