Out and About in the Arboretum

May 26, 2023 – Columnar trees
Columnar trees add beautiful color and a bit of grace to the Arboretum. They provide a wonderful contrast against wide-spreading trees.

May 19, 2023 – Fringetree
Chionanthus virginicus, commonly called Fringetree, is a deciduous tree with a spreading, rounded habit. The common name refers to the fragrant, spring-blooming flowers which feature airy clusters of fringe-like, creamy white petals.

May 12, 2023 – Red Horsechestnut
The Red Horsechestnut (Aesculus x carnea) is in full bloom in several areas of the Arboretum, including this tree located near Court Five.

May 5, 2023 – Flame Azalea
Rhododendron calendulaceum, commonly known as flame azalea, is a native shrub with yellow flower buds that look like candle flames.

April 28, 2023 – Flowering Dogwood
These native trees create a beautiful understory tucked in between the majestic White Pines along Medford Leas Way.

April 21, 2023 – Trees of Spring
As you are out and about in the Arboretum, it is impossible to choose just one tree or scene to enjoy, so take a walk on either or both campuses and enjoy the view. Happy April!
