February 24, 2023 – Early Spring
it is fun to see the winter Jasmine in Court 29 on the Medford Campus, and the crocus and daffodils throughout the Arboretum – a wonderful time to enjoy what appears to be an early spring season.

February 17, 2023 – Lois Forrest Greenhouse
If you are yearning for a breath of spring stop by the Greenhouse in the Lois Forrest Nature Center on the Medford Campus.

February 7, 2023 – Witch Hazel
Witch Hazel is just coming into bloom, and if you get close enough, it has a delightful fragrance. And to make it a stalwart in the garden, in the fall the foliage has a beautiful red-orange hue.

These tiny white Snowdrops are almost always the first bloom in the New Year. Their delicate white color symbolizes innocence and purity.

Many of us are familiar with the traditional Winterberry Ilex verticillata with its red berries, but did you know there is also a Winterberry with orange berries?

Broadleaved evergreens such as boxwoods, hollies, Magnolia grandiflora, leatherleaf mahonia, azalea, rhododendron, and even yucca give us green all through the winter season.
