As we move into November, you will want to take note of the Ginkgo biloba, Maidenhair tree. This upright tree often reaches 50 feet in height. The spectacular golden fall foliage starts early. The fan shaped leaves of the tree are already beginning to turn color in October. This tree is especially fun to watch over the next weeks, because it tends to drop the leaves in one fell swoop once the temperatures get cooler.
Because of its resilience, Ginko is often used as a street tree, which is why you will see it along Main Street in both Lumberton and Medford. You will also see a Gingko tree on the Lumberton Campus along the walkway through the Meadow.
