April 26, 2019 – Fothergilla
Fothergilla gardenii, commonly known as dwarf fothergilla, is a compact, slow-growing, deciduous shrub that typically grows 2-3′ tall. This shrub is in bloom now with fragrant flowers.

April 19, 2019 – Serviceberry
In landscaping, an allee, or avenue, is typically a straight line of trees running along each side of an area. Its Latin source, venire, indicates an arrival at a landscape or architectural feature. As you approach Court 26 on the Medford Campus, the allee of ‘Autumn Brilliance’ Serviceberry, Amelanchier x Grandiflora is ready to greet you.

March 29, 2019 – Kobus Magnolia
Magnolia kobus, commonly known as Kobus magnolia, is one of the earliest trees to bloom. It is noted for its goblet-shaped fragrant white flowers which open at the very end of March before the foliage emerges.

March 22, 2019 – Bald Cypress
Taxodium distichum, commonly called bald cypress, is a long-lived, pyramidal conifer which grows 50-70′ tall. Although it looks like a needled evergreen in summer, it is deciduous, or “bald” in winter as the name suggests. When growing in damp conditions, distinctive knobby root growths known as “knees” often protrude around the base of the tree.
