Aesculus hippocastanum is a species of flowering plant in the soapberry family and commonly known as a Horse-chestnut Tree. This large tree grows to over 100 feet tall at maturity. The flowers are in bloom at this time. This tree is native to the forests of South East Europe, however, it can also be found here in the Barton Arboretum.
You will find specimens of this tree along the covered walkway from Court 10 to the Community Building, as well as other areas on the Medford Campus.
