Witch hazel, Hamamelis x intermedia ‘Arnold Promise,’ is a flowering shrub that is prized for its spidery bright yellow blooms that arrive in late winter or early spring, before the foliage opens. This may well be the first flowering plant of spring, sometimes blooming while snow still blankets the ground. This cultivar can be found on the Terrace outside of the Willow Room on the Medford Campus.
