August 24, 2018 – Medford Leas Meadow Restoration

Just this past month, work has proceeded with the restoration of the Medford Campus Meadow. Under the guidance of Larry Weaner Landscape Associates, (LWA), the first step has begun to eliminate invasive non-native weeds that have engulfed areas of the Meadow. Over the next month, another application of spray will take place, followed by a second mowing. Remember, the goal of this restoration is to create a native plant dominant environment composed of a blend of grasses, wildflowers, trees and shrubs for all to enjoy-both human and wildlife. This project will take place over 3 years, so again, we ask for your patience as this unfolds. This project is sponsored by the Arboretum Fund. Stay tuned for more news as this project progresses.

In the meantime, this is a perfect time to take a visit to the Lumberton Campus Meadow, to see the results of the plan put into place by LWA beginning in the fall of 2014.
